Augusta Men's Cross Country Wins Fourth Straight PBC Championship

BEECH ISLAND, SC -- The Augusta Jaguars won their fourth straight Peach Belt Conference men's cross country championship on Saturday at Redcliffe Plantation on Beech Island. For the second year in a row, the Jaguars turned in a perfect team score of 15, taking the top five scoring places and sending the first six runners across the line. Flagler was second with 49 followed by Columbus State and Georgia College.

Augusta has now won seven PBC Championships, five in the last six years. The string of four straight titles is the longest since Columbus State won five in a row from 2006-10.

Augusta senior Kai Brickey became the sixth PBC men's runner to repeat as individual champion. The four-time All-Conference standout covered the 8k course in 25:03.3, finishing 16 seconds ahead of teammate Hans Troyer.

The top 15 runners were named All-Conference provided they were among the top seven runners on their team. Flagler's Will Stone was named the PBC Freshman of the Year after finishing eighth, the first freshman to cross the line. Augusta's Jacob Burgamy was named the Coach of the Year. Patrick Motes was named PBC Runner of the Year

Augusta will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Wingate, N.C.
