BLACKSBURG, VA - The Augusta University Cross Country Programs had a strong showing at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitation on Friday evening.
RESULTS
"It was great to see both teams compete well against a field of all D1 teams," said head coach
Jacob Burgamy. "We did a very good job of showing our strength on the hills and moving up through the pack as the race went along. We were able to identify some areas that could use some work, but I think we're in a very good spot for the point of the season that we're in. "

Both programs were the only Division II teams represented at the meet. Jaguar men's cross country finished 5
th out of 9 teams, beating out Marshall, Radford, Virginia Military Institute, and Longwood. Reigning PBC Freshman of the Year
Patrick Motes led for Augusta, finishing his 8k in 20
th place with a time of 25:33.77. Veteran All-Conference runner
Hans Troyer finished 21
st, a second behind Motes with a time of 25:44.0.

Out of 120 runners, five Augusta runners finished in the top 50: Motes, Troyer,
Andrew Todd,
Avery Jaynes, and
Thomas Rischar.

On the women's side, Augusta finished 8
th and beat out Longwood and Virginia Military Institute.
Cassie Lagan led all Augusta runners, finishing the 6k race with a time of 6:30.07.
Riley Triplett finished 61
st with a time of 6:35.7.
Caroline Pierce finished less than one second behind her at 6:36.4.

Both teams return to action on Oct. 7 when they travel to Charlotte to participate in the Royals Invitational.
