HUNTSVILLE, AL.----The No. 23 Augusta University men's cross country team finished second in the 45-team UAH Chargers Invitational on Saturday. Seven of the 25 teams who made a 2022 National Championship appearance were represented at the meet.  Junior Brandon Martin led the way for the defending Peach Belt Conference champions, posting an 8K time of 24:18.7 and finishing third in the field of over 430 runners. The University of Alabama Huntsville hosted the Charger Invitational at John Hunt Cross Country Park.

Augusta posted 98 total points, finishing second just behind Charleston (W.V).

Inside the 8K results

- Augusta University had five runners in the top 30,
- Junior Brandon Matin finished third overall ( 24:18.7)
- Avery Jaynes (24:29.5) and Patrick Motes (24:55.6) were next across the line for AU
- Carlos Rodriguez and Thomas Rischar finished together in 29^th and 30^th
- Jordan Robertson also finished in the top 50 (24:59.4)
- Martin now has the best time in the Peach Belt, besting teammate Avery Jaynes' time at the Southern Showcase by just under five seconds

The Peach Belt Conference cross country championships are Saturday, Oct. 21 in Gainesville, Ga. The University of North Georgia is hosting the PBC event at the UNG Cross Country Course on the University of North Georgia Gainesville Campus. The Jags look to win their fifth straight conference championship and sixth in the last seven years.
