KAPOLEI, Hawaii – Augusta University men's golf is in fourth after the first round of the Kapolei Invitational on Tuesday, with
Ryan van der Klis tied for third at the Kapolei Golf Course.
Augusta went 16-under 272 and is tied for fourth following the first round of the Kapolei Invitational.
In the field of 19 teams, The No. 86 Jaguars are three strokes behind No. 23 Baylor and four strokes behind leader No. 53 Florida Gulf Coast. Augusta is in front of two top-50 ranked teams.
Individual
Ryan van der Klis is tied for third after shooting a 6-under 66 in the first round,
his lowest 18-hole total for the season. The AU newcomer is one stroke behind the first-place finishers for the day
Dawson Booth and
Stefan Jacobs also turned in strong performances, shooting 4-under 68s to end the day tied for 17
th.
Cole Stevens also registered an under par performance, carding a 2-under 70.
Behn Heyns rounded out the AU team for the day, finishing tied for 82
nd.
Both van der Klis and Booth had eagles in the first 18 holes of play. Jacobs led the field with eight birdies while van der Klis had seven.
