NEW ORLEANS, LA.- The Augusta University men's cross-country team is ranked No. 17 in the NCAA DII national poll, released by the U.S Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jaguars are ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Poll. Defending National Champion Wingate continues to hold the No. 1 spot.
In their latest meet, they competed in both the Blue 8k Run and the Gold 8k Run at the Royals Cross Country Challenge. The team finished 15th in the Gold 8k and 8th in the Blue 8k, with strong performances across both groups. In the golf 8k, The team posted a total time of 2:12:08, with an average time of 26:25 for the 8k race. Leading the Jaguars was
Eli Corn, who clocked a time of 26:00.2, followed by Beck Wolf-Hardy with a time of 26:08.9.
Benjamin Roberts came in at 26:37.4, while
Shahzeb Rashid finished with a time of 26:40.0.
Carter Dehnke rounded out the top five scorers with a time of 26:41.9.
Elijah Fitts also competed, crossing the line in 28:12.0. In the Blue 8k race, Augusta posted a team time of 2:21:35, with an average time of 28:19. Leading the group was
Marshall Bray, who finished with a time of 27:16.7. He was followed by
Amir Dayal at 27:36.2,
Noah Shepherd at 28:21.0,
David Ajuzie at 29:10.1, and
Joseph Elbert at 29:12.1.
Eli Corn was named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week following the performance.
The Jaguars look ahead to the Peach Belt Conference Championship on October 26, where they are set to defend their title, having won the last five consecutive conference championships.
