Greenville, SC - Augusta University sophomore
Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy led wire-to-wire to win the the 50th annual Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman Golf Course. McCarthy, from Spain, birdied the final hole and fired a 70 to win by a shot over Averi Cline and Catie Craig, both of Western Kentucky. Gonzalez-McCarthy was -8 for the tournament after rounds of 68-70-70 to claim her first collegiate victory.
She finished sixth two weeks ago at the Badger Invitational and then backed that up with this week's performance in Greenville. Gonzalez-McCarthy had four birdies and two bogeys on the day, but none bigger than draining the winning putt on her final hole of the tournament.
