Box Score AUGUSTA, GA- A big third quarter turned a six point half time lead into an easy 63-33 win for the Augusta women against Georgia College Wednesday night at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The game served as the annual Cancer Awareness – HERE TO WIN event in conjunction with the Georgia Cancer Center.Prior to the game, senior Autumn Phillips was honored for reaching 1,000 career points on Saturday Feb 25 against North Georgia.

The Jaguars snap a two game skid and improve to 5-3 in Peach Belt Conference play and 13-5 overall. The Bobcats are now 4-7 in conference play and 11-9 overall.



After leading 21-15 at the half, Augusta exploded for 26 points in the third quarter while holding Georgia College to just 10 points. AU held GC to just 22.6% shooting from the field and 0-11 from three point range.

Leading the way for the Jaguars was Yamani Paul who registered a double-double. Paul had a game high 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Autumn Phillips added nine points and Sierra Burns eight points in a balanced scoring attack. Four others had at least six points in the game.

In that decisive third quarter, the Jags went on a 20-4 run as Phillips and Paul hit back-to-back three pointers that really opened up the lead.

Brianna Meekins and Mone Florence each came up with three steals.

Augusta dominated pretty much every category and never trailed in the game. They now travel to Columbus State for a battle with the Cougars on Feb. 1.
