Aidan Cannaday hit two solo home runs and
Jakob Cowart collected five hits, but it was not enough as Shorter defeated Augusta 10-7 Tuesday at Jaguar Field. The Jaguars are now 7-5 on the year while the Hawks improve to 6-3.
Shorter jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third before Cannaday connected on his first homer of the game making it 4-1. The Jags would plate two more runs as
Mattheson Go would later deliver a two-run single making it 4-3.
Nolan Turner would cap off the inning with a RBI single tying the game at four.Â
AU would take the lead the next inning with
Jake Vachon picking up a single to lead off the inning. He would come around and score on a Cowart single making it 5-4 Jags.
The game got away in the sixth as the Hawks would plate five runs, four coming on a grand slam as they would take the lead they would not relinquish.Â
Cannaday's second homer of the game came in the bottom of the sixth and the last run would come an inning later as Turner would score on a double play ball.
Augusta will next be in action on Friday when they travel to Bluffton, S.C. to take on USC Beaufort in a three-game series.
