Augusta Holds Shorter to Four Hits but Fall to the Hawks On the Road

Rome, Ga. - Three Augusta pitchers held Shorter to just four hits, but the Jaguars managed just five hits and were shutout by the Hawks 3-0 on Tuesday in Rome, Ga. The Jaguars fall to 10-6 overall while the Hawks improve to 7-6.

Ty Cobb got the start for AU and went 4.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits, but did walk five batters. Cobb gave up a two-run home run in the second inning and a solo shot in the third for all the Hawks runs.

Aedan Cates came on in relief and went two scoreless innings while Jude King pitched the final 1.2 innings and gave up no hits with two strikeouts.

At the plate, hits were tough to come by. Nolan Turner had two of them for the Jags with Jake Vachon, Mattheson Go and Roland Chance having the other three. One of Turner's hits was a triple.

The Jaguars had three different occasions where they had two runners on base, but could never get the big hit when needed.
