AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University women's track & field opened the 2026 outdoor season with a pair of meets in Atlanta, competing at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech and the Emory Invitational.
The Jaguars began the outdoor campaign after being selected to finish third in the Peach Belt Conference preseason poll.
Augusta turned in several strong performances to open the season, highlighted by a pair of top-10 finishes in the distance events at Georgia Tech.
Madison Thomas led the way with an eighth-place finish in the 5,000 meters in 17:23.29, followed by Gabby Jourdain in 11th at 17:31.97. Maria Biondollilo added a 29th-place finish in 18:55.38.
On the track, Madison Mitchell placed 26th in the 100 meters (12.53). In the 200 meters, Thanna Davis led Augusta with a 23rd-place finish (26.07), followed by Ava Adams (25th, 26.10) and Mitchell (29th, 26.41).
Davis also posted a top-15 finish in the 400 meters, placing 15th in 57.71, while Adams ran 1:00.00 to finish 26th.
In the middle-distance events, Caleigh Munro led Augusta in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.98 (31st), while Grace Gyetko followed in 2:30.34 (44th). Munro also competed in the 1,500 meters, finishing 40th in 4:48.54.
Augusta's 4x100 relay team of Adams, Taneiha Bowman, Janiya England and Mitchell was entered but did not start.
In the field events, Taneiha Bowman recorded a ninth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.18 meters (17-0). Nene Akaose placed 14th (4.95m / 16-3), and Cameron Wade finished 16th (4.93m / 16-2.25).
Wade also led the Jaguars in the triple jump with an eighth-place finish at 11.16 meters (36-7.5), while Bowman placed 12th at 10.74 meters (35-3).
Augusta continued competition in Atlanta with a full slate of events at Emory.
On the track, Janiya England placed 23rd in the 100 meters (12.76) and 66th in the 200 meters (27.06). Meadow Roberts added a 200-meter time of 27.92.
In the 400 meters, Kennedy McDonald led the Jaguars with an 11th-place finish in 58.24, while Roberts ran 1:05.10.
In the 800 meters, Cheyenne Ryan posted a time of 2:28.01 to place 23rd. Grace Gyetko, Brie Andrews, and Caleigh Munro were entered but did not start.
Augusta's distance group competed across multiple sections of the 1,500 meters. Elkin Regina led the way with a fourth-place finish in 4:58.93. Gyetko (5:01.66) and Ryan (5:03.14) placed 18th and 19th, respectively, while Carlee Hodges (5:41.55) and Devan Howard (5:53.48) also competed.
In the 5,000 meters, Amelia Ogden finished sixth in 18:40.70, followed by Lily McDonald in 19th at 20:09.26 and Jupiter Boers in 13th at 21:27.47. Swaye Mohler, Maria Biondollilo, and Danielle Thayer were entered but did not start.
Thayer returned to place fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:11.51, while Mohler finished seventh in 12:45.44.
In the hurdles, England recorded a time of 17.82 in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the field events, Paige Justice cleared 1.50 meters (4-11) to place 14th in the high jump, while Jamiya Reed cleared 1.40 meters (4-7).
Rebekah Klossner led Augusta in the pole vault, placing 10th with a clearance of 3.00 meters (9-10). Klossner also competed in the long jump, finishing 30th at 4.89 meters (16-0.5), while Leilani Stallings recorded a no mark.
Stallings added a 22nd-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 9.73 meters (31-11.25).
In the throws, Jala Williams led Augusta in the shot put with a mark of 10.67 meters (35-0.25), followed by Keeva Tracey (10.10m / 33-1.75) and Kayla Marshall (8.20m / 26-11). In the discus, Marshall recorded a mark of 30.44 meters (99-10), while Williams posted 29.07 meters (95-4).
Augusta will continue its outdoor season March 26-28 at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State University in Raleigh, N.C.
