Central, S.C.- Eight different Augusta players collected hits with seven of them scoring at least one run as the Jaguars knocked off Southern Wesleyan Tuesday night 12-7. With the win, Augusta improves to 16-19 overall while Crusaders fall to 11-25. AU also scored in five different innings to collect the win.
Nolan Turner and
Aidan Cannaday each had three hits while
Landon Leonard and
Kent Moon collected two hits to lead the way. Leonard homered and scored three runs in the game.
Jake Vachon drove in three runs with
Harris Bachelder, Cannaday and Moon each having two RBI.
AU started the scoring early with Leonard hitting a first inning home run. The Jaguars would then score five runs over the next two innings to extend their lead. Bachelder had a two-run single in the fourth to cap off the big frames.
After the Crusaders cut the lead to 9-5, Augusta would come right back to put the game on ice. In the sixth, Vachon would deliver a two-run double with Moon then singling home a run. Vachon would also score in the inning when Moon was picked off first, allowing Vachon to race home.
On the mound,
Riley Akins was credited with his first win of the year. He went 2.2 innings allowing a single run on one hit with a strikeout.
Augusta returns to Jaguar Field Wednesday night when Belmont Abbey comes to town.
