Augusta, Ga. - After taking a two-run lead in the bottom of the seventh on a three-run homer by
Harris Bachelder, Augusta would allow three runs on three wild pitches over the next two innings as Flagler picked up the 8-7 win Friday night at Jaguar Field. AU falls to 12-16 in Peach Belt Conference action and 18-27 overall. The Saints improve to 19-10 in conference play and 32-15 overall.
Landon Leonard collected four hits on the game for the Jags with a RBI and two runs scored. Bachelder also had a big game with a five RBI performance.
The Saints plated two runs in the first, but AU would quickly tie it up. Leonard had a RBI single and Bachelder delivered a sacrifice fly plating the second run of the frame.
It would be 5-2 Flagler in the bottom of the third when Bachelder again picked up a RBI on a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3.
Augusta would get another run in the fourth when
Nolan Turner delivered a RBI single that plated
Nathan Martin.
It would stay that way until the seventh. With Leonard and
Aidan Cannaday on base, Bachelder cranked one over the left field wall giving the Jaguars a 7-5 lead.
But Flagler would score twice in the eighth on back-to-back wild pitches and then one more in the ninth on another wild pitch with the winning run.
Jameson Whittier was the tough-luck pitcher for AU. Whittier came on in relief in the third and went five solid innings. He would be charged with the two runs in the seventh after he left the game.
Augusta and Flagler will continue the series on Saturdy afternoon with first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m.
