--Augusta State took down USC Aiken 3-1 Thursday night in
a Peach Belt Conference match at the Convocation Center in Aiken,
S.C. The contest was tabbed "Dig for the Cure" night benefitting
the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure for Breast Cancer.
With the victory, ASU improved its record to 10-8 on the season and
2-4 in the conference, while USC Aiken dropped to 10-8 on the year,
and 2-4 in the PBC.
Senior Jessica Howard paced the Jags with a season-high 26 kills
and had a .432 hitting percentage. Also aiding in the win for the
Jags was Sophomore Lagi Roberts, who booked 12 kills. Junior Dianna
Meyer tallied 10 kills, while sophomore setter Ashley Zappitell
netted 49 assists. Senior libero Lindsey Weider posted 21 digs.
For the Pacers, Shannon Byers led the team posting a double-double
with 18 kills and 10 digs. Megan Disney tallied 11 kills, while
Samantha Lukralle posted 21 digs. Setter Lauren Cedeno had 35
assists and 10 digs, and Whitney Tabbert added 12 assists.
The Jags return to play Saturday, Oct. 3, when they travel to
Montevallo, Ala., to take on Montevallo in Peach Belt Conference
action. The first serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
