AUGUSTA, Ga.
-Augusta State split with Valdosta State on Wednesday
afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field.
With the split, Augusta State moved to 20-15 overall and 3-5 in the
league, while the Lady Blazers went to 24-4 overall and 2-0 in the
GSC.
In game one, sophomore Jennifer Miller (7-5) earned the start and
lasted 1.1 innings and gave up three runs on three hits. Freshman
Sarah DeMuth (6-6) improved to 7-2 on the season, allowing only one
hit and booked nine strikeouts. Freshman Emily Corish (0-1) earned
the start in game two, lasting 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on
three hits and had six strikeouts. Junior Kimberly Kennedy (6-3)
received the loss, relieving Corish in the sixth. Kennedy allowed
two runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
Freshmen Kacee Camp and Jessica Thornton paced the Lady Jags
offensively going 3-for-3 in game one, with Thornton hitting a
homer and having four RBI. Freshman Sarah DeMuth was 3-for-6 on the
afternoon, while DeMuth and junior Alysha Krier had the only two
hits in game two.
ASU is back in action on Saturday, March 21, when they host UNC
Pembroke for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field
at 2:00 p.m. The match is also being slated as Parent's
Day.
