AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State senior righthander Wilson Taylor allowed just four hits in seven innings Saturday afternoon and Chase Johnston worked two innings of perfect relief as the Jaguars blanked No. 24 Columbus State 3-0 at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
The Cougars, behind seven shutout innings from lefty Brodie Leibrandt, earned a split of the doubleheader with a 6-2 victory in the second game.
ASU junior first baseman Seth Foster drove in a pair of runs as both teams combined for just seven hits in the opener. Taylor struck out six and walked four while the Jags played solid defense behind him, not committing an error.
