AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern (7-27, 4-16 PBC) scored four runs in the eighth to break open a tight one and propel themselves to a 11-4 Peach Belt victory Sunday over Augusta State (11-26, 3-18 PBC) at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

 The Hurricanes struck first, putting two across in the top of the second on a bases-loaded wild pitch and RBI single. But the Jags responded, plating a run in the bottom of the second on a bases-loaded Clay Tucker walk.

ASU knotted things up at 2 apiece with a run in the third. Curtis Parker doubled and moved to third on a throwing error by the pitcher, finally scoring on Kevin Dodson's RBI groundout.

The teams swapped scoreless innings in the fourth, fifth, and sixth before the 'Canes put two across in the seventh and four in the eighth. ASU got one in the eights on Ross Miles' RBI single and another in the ninth on Dodson's bases-loaded walk, but to do no more.

Dylan Wall hurled 6 1/3 innings for the Jags, giving up five hits and four runs (two earned). He struck out two and walked three.

Matthew Suggs went seven strong for GSW for the win, scattering seven hits and allowing three earned runs.

Parker (2-for-5, 2 runs) and Justin Appel (2-for-5, run) led the ASU offense. Michel Coffey and John Duran paced the 'Canes with three hits apiece.

Augusta State returns to action when they head to Montevallo to begin a three-game PBC set on Friday, April 6 in a single game starting at 7:00 p.m. They will conclude with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
