DUE WEST, S.C. – Augusta State broke out the bats Tuesday afternoon with a 13-8 non-conference road win over Erskine at Grier Field.

The victory lifted ASU to 12-29 on the season, while the Flying Fleet dropped to 24-16. The victory was also the first road win for ASU since Saturday, Feb. 25 (a 13-3 win at Lander).

ASU matched a season high in runs scored as eight different Jags drove in at least one run. Sophomore outfielder Clay Tucker paced ASU's 11-hit attack with a 3-for-5 outing that included a pair of runs scored. Junior Seth Foster and sophomore Kevin Dodson each tallied a pair of hits and RBI. Senior Caleb Saggus, Justin Appel and Tucker all scored a pair of runs.

Sophomore righthander Clint Echols earned his first win of the season in relief. Five Jaguar hurlers saw action, including starter Dylan Wall who yielded five hits and six runs. He walked four and failed to strike out a batter. Matt Blume, Kyle Golden and Chase Johnston worked the last four innings and combined to allow just a pair of hits and one run, all in the ninth inning.

ASU jumped out to an 8-0 lead with four runs in the second and third innings. Tucker sparked both rallies with a leadoff single in the second and a leadoff double in the third. The Jags took advantage of a pair of sacrifice flies, a bases-loaded walk, a hit batsman with the bases loaded and a two-run throwing error.

The contest featured 21 runs, 20 hits and 10 errors. The two teams combined to use 14 pitchers, including nine by Erskine.

The Jags play host to their final Peach Belt Conference series of the season this weekend when they welcome Georgia College to town. ASU and the Bobcats meet in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m., at Jaguar Field and wrap up the series with a single game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
