SUMTER, SC – The Augusta University men's tennis team made a strong showing at the 2024 ITA Regionals, held in Sumter, South Carolina, with all players competing as individuals in singles and doubles draws.

In the singles competition, Enzo Garutti, seeded 9th, advanced through multiple rounds to reach the semifinals. After a bye in the first round, Garutti secured a thrilling victory on Saturday, September 28, with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Hampus Hagglund from the University of Mount Olive. On Sunday, September 29, he continued his winning streak, defeating Samuel Winter 6-4, 6-2. Garutti advanced by walkover on Monday when his opponent, Baptiste Mercier [1], withdrew due to injury, and he followed up with a solid 6-2, 6-3 win against Mico Vincent Fenollar [17]. Despite his impressive run, Garutti's journey came to an end in the semifinals.

Alexis Bailhache had a notable tournament as well, starting strong with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on Saturday and following up with a loss on Sunday. Bailhache's went on to win his two consolation draw matches 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2. 

Arthur Valette faced a tough battle in his singles match on Saturday, losing a hard-fought three-set match 7-6 (3), 4-6, 3-6. Valette also went on to snag two wins in the consolation bracket on Sunday. 

Agustin Mastri, seeded 9th, also competed over the weekend, winning 6-3, 6-2 against Federico Spinetta on Sunday, before falling on Monday in a close three-set match to Simon Malis, seeded 5th, 6-2, 5-7, 4-6.

In doubles action, Enzo Garutti and Alexis Bailhache were eliminated in the first round, while the pair of Arthur Valette and David Perret advanced to the second round before being knocked out.
