ATLANTA, GA - The Augusta University men's track & field team opened their season this past weekend at the Panther Invitational hosted by Clark Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. The Jaguars finished fifth in the twenty-team field.
In true Augusta fashion, the Jaguars shined in distance events. Camera Watson took third in the 5000m with a time of 15:35.44.
In the 4x400m Augusta turned in a sixth place finish. Davi Garcia,
Noah Shepherd, Patrick Rowan, and
Amir Dayal carded a time of 3:28.78.
Binh Nhien Do,
Joseph Elbert,
Marshall Bray, and
David Garcia finished 12
th.
In his first meet as a Jaguar, freshman
Mason Ranson finished ninth in the 100m with a time of 11.07.
Da'Shon Rockwell also finished in the top 15w in 11.24. Ranson also turned in a time of 23.10 in the 200m for 30
th place.
In the 400m,
Amir Dayal and Charlie Roberts finished in 51.08 and 51.19, enough for 19
th and 22
nd respectively.
Augusta turned in three top 15 finishes in the 800m.
Binh Nhien Do finished seventh with a time of 1:59.37. David Garvi carded ninth in 2:00.15.
Noah Shepherd took 13
th in 2:01.72.
In the 1500m,
Gabriel Best led Augusta with a seventh-place finish in 4:08.11.
Cailan Howard finished just behind him in eighth in 4:08.50.
In the field events, AU turned in six top-10 finishes, highlighted by
Joshua Bowen's first-place finish in the javelin. Bowen took the top spot with a 47.50mm mark. Bowen also had a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a 13.63m mark.
In the high jump, Patrick Rowan finished seventh (1.80m) while
Orion Kotas finished eighth in the pole vault (3.36m). In the long jump,
Grace Sangwa had a solid second place showing (6.67m). He also took home second in the triple jump (12.72m).
