AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University indoor track and field competed at three meets on Feb. 13-14, with the Jaguars sending athletes to the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational in Mill Spring, N.C., the Crimson Open at Harvard in Cambridge, Mass., and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass.
At the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, senior Avery Jaynes recorded an NCAA Division II qualifying mark in the 5,000 meters, finishing with a time of 14:02.98. Junior Nasrudin Mohamed also competed in the event and posted a time of 14:34.26.
Augusta also had several athletes compete in Boston's distance events. Sophomore Gabriel Best ran 8:32.71 in the 3,000 meters, while junior Oscar Curry clocked a 4:14.67 in the mile. Sophomore Seth Eye competed in the 800 meters and finished in 1:53.00.
At the Crimson Open, Eye posted another strong 800-meter performance, finishing eighth with a time of 1:51.96. Augusta also had a strong showing in the mile, led by Curry who finished 19th in 4:15.72. Jaynes followed closely behind in 20th with a time of 4:15.76. Best ran 4:22.58, while Mohamed posted a time of 4:28.41.
At the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational, junior Andrew Helfers led the Jaguars with a runner-up finish in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 8:37.03. Freshman Caleb Darsey finished in 8:59.59, while sophomore Eli Corn posted a time of 9:01.74. Freshman Carter Dehnke added a time of 9:37.45.
In the 5,000 meters, freshman Beck Wolf-Hardy ran 15:49.86, while freshman Sam Segrist finished in 15:59.11.
Augusta's sprint group was led by freshman Logan Wynn, who ran 22.47 in the 200 meters. Junior Ryan Sen competed in the 200 meters and posted a time of 23:69, while freshman Kobe Mitchell ran 23.99.
In the 800 meters, freshman Evans McDaniel finished in 2:05.24, while freshman Barrett Stepp posted a time of 2:08.02. Freshman Jackson Musto competed in the mile and ran 4:27.94, while freshman Elijah Fitts and freshman Benjamin Hall ran 4:30.00 and 4:31.30, respectively.
In the field events, sophomore Jackson Evans recorded a mark of 6.45 meters (21-2) in the long jump, while freshman Cory Dekle posted a mark of 6.03 meters (19-9.5). Dekle also competed in the triple jump and recorded a mark of 12.82 meters (42-0.75).
In the throws, freshman Tra'Vontae Smith led Augusta in the shot put with a mark of 12.90 meters (42-4), while senior Joshua Bowen recorded a mark of 12.64 meters (41-5.75). Sophomore Michael Chatman posted a mark of 12.91 meters (42-4.25) in the weight throw.
Augusta returns to action at the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship on Feb. 23 at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville, Fla.
