Augusta Men Open Outdoor Season at Georgia Tech, Emory Meets

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University men's track & field began the 2026 outdoor season with a pair of competitions in Atlanta, taking part in the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Georgia Tech and the Emory Spring Break Classic.

The Jaguars opened the season with strong results across sprints, distance, and field events.

At Georgia Tech, Augusta was paced by its distance group. Nasrudin Mohamed placed third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:29.02, a mark that ranks first in the Peach Belt Conference and sixth in NCAA Division II. Jordan Robertson followed in fifth at 14:36.51, while Eli Corn (25th, 15:22.97), Oscar Curry (26th, 15:23.18), and Caleb Darsey (30th, 15:43.34) rounded out the group.

In the 100 meters, Chris Hart led Augusta with a time of 10.92 (16th), followed by Devin Barolette (20th, 11.07) and Logan Wynn (30th, 11.52). Barolette also turned in the top 200-meter performance for the Jaguars, finishing 15th in 22.31, with Gabriel Carson close behind in 17th at 22.36.

Augusta showed depth in the 400 meters, placing six runners inside the top 15. Carson led the group with a fifth-place finish in 48.13, followed by Dorian Chance (7th, 48.27), Roberto Barrera (8th, 48.57), Dylan Poole (11th, 49.02), Charlie Roberts (12th, 49.08), and Mykel Thompson (14th, 49.70).

In the 800 meters, Seth Eye recorded a time of 1:54.83 to place 10th, while Jackson Musto (15th, 1:55.87) and Noah Shepherd (23rd, 1:59.82) also scored strong finishes. In the 1,500 meters, Gabriel Best led the Jaguars in 22nd at 3:56.12, followed by Musto (25th, 3:59.78) and Shepherd (30th, 4:00.75).

Andrew Helfers added a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:37.66, while Ragiariki Lewis placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.93).

The 4x100 relay team of Barolette, Carson, Wynn, and Hart competed but did not finish.

At Emory, Augusta continued competition with a full lineup of events.

Ryan Sen posted a time of 11.09 in the 100 meters, while Michael Meriweather was entered but did not start. In the 200 meters, Charlie Roberts led Augusta in 27th at 22.34, followed by Dylan Poole (31st, 22.44), Roberto Barrera (44th, 22.60), and Mykel Thompson (64th, 23.19).

Braylon Moyer competed in the 400 meters, finishing in 52.03.

In the 800 meters, David Garcia paced the Jaguars with a 16th-place finish in 1:59.38. Evans McDaniel (40th, 2:03.25), Daniel Pierce (45th, 2:04.30), and Barrett Stepp (56th, 2:07.91) also competed.

In the 1,500 meters, Carter Dehnke (31st, 4:16.75) and Shahzeb Rashid (40th, 4:19.24) represented Augusta.

The Jaguars added depth in the 5,000 meters, led by Owen Almelien (17th, 15:29.81), Beck Wolf-Hardy (18th, 15:29.90), and Elijah Fitts (27th, 15:46.23). Sam Segrist finished fifth in his section in 15:52.99, while Landon Amos placed 20th in 16:36.65.

Nicholas Smink recorded a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.78.

In the field events, Mitchell Jean Baptiste claimed the high jump title with a clearance of 1.95 meters (6-4.75).

Cory Dekle led Augusta in the horizontal jumps with a mark of 6.56 meters (21-6.25) in the long jump and 12.69 meters (41-7.75) in the triple jump, while Jackson Evans added a jump of 6.01 meters (19-8.75).

In the throws, Tra'Vontae Smith placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 13.99 meters (45-10.75). Michael Chatman recorded a throw of 47.09 meters (154-6) in the hammer, which currently ranks fourth in the Peach Belt Conference.

Augusta will continue its outdoor season March 26-28 at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State University in Raleigh, N.C.
