TICKET PUNCHED! Augusta Earns NCAA Tournament Bid; Jaguars Face Carson-Newman in First Round Friday

Indianapolis, Ind.----For the fifth time in program history, the Augusta University Jaguars have earned a bid to the NCAA Division II women's basketball tournament. The D2 bracket was released Sunday night on NCAA.com. Augusta is the number seven seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional, taking on second-seeded Carson-Newman in the opening round on Friday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. Every game of the NCAA Southeast Regional will take place at Goodman Gymnasium on the campus of Catawba College.

Catawba is the number one seed and host school in the regional, followed by Carson-Newman, Wingate, and Lenoir-Rhyne. Georgia Southwestern is the fifth seed, with Anderson, Augusta, and UNC Pembroke rounding out the regional. The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Elite Eight in St. Joseph, Mo.
 
Augusta returns to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016 and make their fifth overall tournament appearance. The 2004 regional champions, the Jaguars finished second in the PBC standings with a 22-8 overall record, 15-3 in conference play. AU reached the semifinals of the PBC Tournament where they fell in double overtime to Columbus State.
