Evan Joyner Joins AU Men's Basketball 2024-25 Signing Class

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's coach Dip Metress has announced the addition of transfer Evan Joyner to the 2024-25 class.

"Evan is a versatile athletic player that brings us some much-needed athleticism on the offensive and defensive end of the floor," said Metress. "His experience as a player can hopefully enable us to have players playing multiple positions.  His length on defense and ability to guard the ball 1 on 1 hopefully will enhance us as well."
 
While at North Carolina A&T, he averaged 3.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 19 minutes per game. Prior to his time in Greensboro, he started his career at Yavapai College. In 2022-23 at Yavapai, Joiner earned Third-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Region honors.  He played in all 30 games and started 29 games for the Roughriders. Joiner led the team in scoring with 432 points (14th in ACCAC), rebounds with 197 (9th in ACCAC) and steals with 36 (26th in ACCAC). He tallied 24 blocks (10th in the ACCAC) and 85 assists (16th in the ACCAC).
 
Joyner graduated from Piedmont Classical High School in June of 2020. As a senior, he helped lead the Bobcats to a 25-9 record, playing in 34 games while averaging 9.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. As a junior, he averaged 10.7 points on 55 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds in just 19 minutes of play per game. Joyner scored 1,001 points over the course of his high school career, was a First-Team All-State selection, USA National Prep Champion and 4X State Champion. He graduated with a 3.9 GPA and played AAU for Garner Road and was coached by NBA All Star David West.
