Jaguar Men's Cross Country Ranked No. 14 Nationally in USTFCCCA Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Augusta University men's cross-country team is now ranked No.14 in the NCAA DII national poll, released by the U.S Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.

"Glad to see the men ranked so highly in the preseason polls," said heach coach Jacob Burgamy.  "We return 6 of our top 7 and have developed very well over the past year, so we're excited to make a push to improve on our 15th place finish from last year."

The Jaguars are also ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Southeast Regional Poll. Defending National Champion Wingate holds the No. 1 spot.

Augusta won their fifth conference title in a row in 2023, six in the last seven years, just one shy of the PBC record for consecutive championships set by Kennesaw State from 1994-99. The 2023 team also finished second in the NCAA Southeast Regionals to advance to the national championships. The team finished last season with a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championship at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. PBC Runner of the Year Avery Jaynes led AU with a time of 30:40.8 and a 56th-place finish. 2023 PBC individual champion Brandon Martin finished in 31:02.4.

The Jaguars open the season September 23 in Boone, N.C. at the Fire Tower Project hosted by Appalachian State.
