Augusta Men’s Basketball Signs T.L. Hanna Standout Lucas Wiersma

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head men's basketball coach Dip Metress announced the first addition to the Jaguars' 2026-27 recruiting class with the signing of forward Lucas Wiersma

Class: Freshman
Position: Forward
Height / Weight: 6'7" / 229 lbs
Hometown / Previous School: Anderson, S.C. / T.L. Hanna High School

"Lucas's motor and his effort is what caught my eye the first time I saw him play his sophomore year in high school," said Metress. "He consistently rebounds the basketball and comes from a great high school program in T.L. Hanna. We are excited about Lucas becoming a Jaguar and hopefully he leads his team to a state championship."

Wiersma averaged 17.3 points and 9 rebounds per game as a junior at T.L. Hanna, earning All-Region honors while establishing himself as one of the top frontcourt players in South Carolina. His physicality, energy, and consistent rebounding presence make him a strong early cornerstone for Augusta's 2026-27 class.

The Jaguars travel to Fayetteville State this Saturday, Nov. 22, before returning home to host Converse on Tuesday, Nov. 25, for Healthcare Heroes Night.
