Avery Jaynes Shatters School and PBC Records at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. – Senior distance runner Avery Jaynes etched his name into the record books on Friday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running the fastest 5000m time in both Augusta University and Peach Belt Conference history. Jaynes crossed the line in 13:51.61, shattering program and conference records and securing an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

Jaynes' time broke the previous school record by a wide margin and toppled a Peach Belt Conference all-time mark that had stood for over a decade. He placed 11th overall in an elite heat that included national-caliber runners from Northern Arizona, TCU, Missouri Southern, and Minnesota Distance Elite, and outpaced Division I and pro-affiliated athletes in one of the most competitive distance races of the meet.

Held at Azusa Pacific University, the Bryan Clay Invitational is the largest and fastest collegiate distance meet in the country. Known for its fast conditions and deep fields, the meet annually attracts Olympic hopefuls, All-Americans, and top collegiate talent from every division.

Jaynes' historic performance marks a career highlight in his senior season and positions him among the top Division II distance runners in the nation this spring.
