AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University indoor track and field turned in a strong showing on the men's side at the Tryon Winter Classic and Combined Events, held Jan. 16–17 at Tryon International, with the Jaguars posting multiple top-five finishes across sprints, distance, relays, and field events.
In the sprints, Kobe Mitchell led Augusta with a fifth-place finish in the 60 meters, running 6.94 in the finals. Devin Barolette also reached the final, placing eighth in 7.05.
The Jaguars recorded several solid marks in the 200 meters, paced by Logan Wynn, who finished 18th in 22.62. Gabriel Carson followed in 22.71, with Devin Barolette (22.89), Charlie Roberts (23.21), and Dorian Chance (23.27) also competing.
Augusta placed five athletes in the 400 meters, led by Roberto Barrera with a 19th-place finish in 51.25. Dylan Poole followed closely in 51.37, while Mykel Thompson (51.82), Nicholas Smink (52.83), and Braylon Moyer (54.49) rounded out the group.
In the 600 meters, Daniel Pierce paced the Jaguars with a 10th-place finish in 1:26.09. David Ajuzie added a 16th-place effort, running 1:26.86.
The distance group produced multiple top-10 performances. Gabriel Best finished fifth in the 3,000 meters in 8:41.58, with Benjamin Hall adding a 9:20.03. In the 5,000 meters, Elijah Fitts earned a runner-up finish in 15:37.74, followed by Sam Segrist in ninth (16:20.22) and Landon Amos in 10th (16:20.67).
In the hurdles, Ragiariki Lewis placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 8:43.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Mykel Thompson, Dylan Poole, Logan Wynn, and Roberto Barrera delivered a third-place finish, crossing the line in 3:23.89.
In the field events, Mitchell Jean Baptiste highlighted the weekend with a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.95 meters (6-4.75). In the horizontal jumps, Jackson Evans recorded a mark of 6.22 meters (20-5) in the long jump, while Cory Dekle added a 6.18-meter (20-3.5) effort. Dekle also competed in the triple jump, posting a best mark of 12.80 meters (42-0).
In the throws, Joshua Bowen led Augusta in the shot put with a mark of 13.31 meters (43-8), while Michael Chatman added a throw of 10.74 meters (35-3).
