ATLANTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's track and field team turned in several solid performances this past weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational, competing against a strong field of athletes from across NCAA divisions.
Sprints and Relays
Sophomore Josalyn Branch competed in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 12.25 seconds. Augusta's 4x100-meter relay team of Nene Akaose, Madison Mitchell, Madison Mills, and Branch clocked a time of 48.17 to finish 21st overall.
Middle Distance and Distance
Junior Grace Gyetko led Augusta in the 800 meters, running 2:23.83. She also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing in 4:59.84. Freshman Sophia Cook had a strong showing in the 1500 meters, recording a time of 4:51.24. In the 5000 meters, sophomore Maria Biondollilo placed 31st with a time of 18:40.89.
Jumps
Freshman Nene Akaose represented the Jaguars in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.12m (16' 9.75").
This marks Augusta's final regular-season meet before the Peach Belt Conference Championships, which will take place April 28–29 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
