AU Indoor Track & Field Delivers Historic Finish in Inaugural Indoor Championship Appearance

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Augusta University Track & Field closed out its inaugural Peach Belt Conference Indoor Championship appearances with historic performances from both the women's and men's programs Monday at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center.

WOMEN

Augusta University women's indoor track & field finished third overall with 93 team points, marking the highest conference team finish in program history, including outdoor track.

The Jaguars were led by two major award winners. Gabby Jourdain was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman Track Athlete of the Year, while Cameron Wade earned Freshman Field Athlete of the Year honors. Jourdain was also selected to the PBC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Madison Thomas continued her record-breaking season in the 5,000 meters, setting an all-time PBC record with a winning time of 17:26.08 to claim the conference title. She also added a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters (10:59.88) to contribute additional team points.

Jourdain captured the conference title in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:58.14 and added a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters (17:37.77), earning All-Conference honors in both distance events.

On the track, Madison Mitchell placed third in the 60 meters (7.88) and seventh in the 200 meters (26.13). Ava Adams secured a third-place finish in the 200 meters (25.57) and added points in the 400 meters with a seventh-place time of 59.10. Thanna Davis finished fourth in the 400 meters (57.55).

In the middle-distance events, Brie Andrews placed seventh in the 800 meters (2:22.38). Caleigh Munro scored in both the mile with a seventh-place time of 5:08.18 and in the 800 meters, while Josabeth Graciano added points in the mile with an eighth-place finish of 5:12.60.

Augusta's Distance Medley Relay team of Andrews, Grace Gyetko, Graciano and Munro finished third in 13:01.47. The 4x400 relay team of Adams, Kennedy McDonald, Davis and Taneiha Bowman placed fifth in 4:12.34.

In the field events, Wade placed fourth in the long jump (5.26m / 17-3.25) and fourth in the triple jump (11.02m / 36-2). Bowman secured a third-place finish in the triple jump (11.25m / 36-11). Rebekah Klossner scored in the pole vault with a sixth-place clearance of 2.97m (9-9). Jala Williams earned All-Conference honors with a runner-up finish in the shot put (11.80m / 38-8.75).

The third-place team finish marks the strongest conference showing in program history as the Jaguars now transition to the outdoor season.

MEN

The Augusta men delivered a historic runner-up finish with 108 points, the highest team conference finish in program history, including outdoor track.

The championship performance was highlighted by three conference records and three event titles.

Seth Eye captured the conference title in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.13, setting a PBC Championship meet record while meeting the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard.

Senior Avery Jaynes won the 5,000 meters in 14:31.77 to break the championship meet record and later added a runner-up finish in the 3,000 meters (8:13.39).

The 4x400 relay team of Gabriel Carson, Charlie Roberts, Roberto Barrera and Dorian Chance closed the meet with a winning time of 3:16.56 to establish an all-time PBC record.

The Jaguars scored across every event group. Chris Hart placed second in the 60 meters (6.81), while Kobe Mitchell added points with a sixth-place finish (6.98). In the 400 meters, Carson (5th, 48.85), Roberts (6th, 48.90) and Barrera (7th, 49.00) combined to add key team points.

In distance events, Gabriel Best (5th, mile – 4:16.32), Jackson Musto (6th, mile – 4:16.44), Noah Shepherd (8th, mile – 4:18.98; 8th, 800 – 1:55.57), Nasrudin Mohamed (4th, 5,000 – 14:45.78), Andrew Helfers (5th, 5,000 – 14:50.53), and Eli Corn (8th, 5,000 – 15:12.43) all contributed to the team total.

In the field events, Mitchell Jean Baptiste placed third in the high jump (1.94m / 6-4.25). Cory Dekle scored in both horizontal jumps, and Joshua Bowen (6th, shot put – 13.98m / 45-10.5) and Tra'Vontae Smith (8th, shot put – 13.80m / 45-3.5) added points in the throws.

With the women finishing third and the men finishing second, Augusta concluded its inaugural indoor championship season with the two highest team conference finishes in program history and now turns its focus to the outdoor season.
