ANDERSON, S.C. – The Augusta University men's track and field team finished fourth overall at the 2025 Electric City Invitational, hosted by Anderson University. The Jaguars turned in a balanced effort across sprints, distance, relays, and field events.
Sprints and Relays
Freshman Jalen Belton led Augusta's sprinters with a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters, clocking 10.84. In the 200 meters, freshman Devin Barolette finished seventh with a time of 21.80. Michael Meriweather (22.77) and Mykel Thompson (22.90) also competed in the event.
The Jaguars had two top-eight finishes in the 400 meters. Junior Roberto Barrera placed sixth in 49.37, and sophomore Charlie Roberts followed in seventh at 49.39. Amir Dayal (50.29), Barolette (50.36), and Thompson (50.62) added to the team's depth in the event.
Augusta closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Roberts, Barolette, Dayal, and Barrera combined for a time of 3:19.15.
Distance and Steeplechase
Senior Patrick Motes placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:14.87. In another section, junior Noah Shepherd finished third in 4:24.39, while freshman Carter Dehnke added a ninth-place finish in 4:35.90.
In the 10,000 meters, senior Matthew Moore ran 31:42.03 to take second place. Sophomore Eli Corn placed sixth (32:44.26), and freshman Elijah Fitts finished ninth (34:18.69). Senior Andrew Todd and junior Andrew Helfers went 2-3 in the 3000-meter steeplechase with times of 9:26.80 and 9:31.90, respectively.
Hurdles
Senior Sawyer Whatley placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.27.
Jumps and Throws
In the high jump, sophomore David Batts cleared 1.90m (6' 2.75") to finish fourth, while freshman Jalen Belton earned sixth with a 1.85m (6' 0.75") clearance.
Batts also led Augusta in the long jump with a mark of 6.22m (20' 5") for 10th place. Freshman Jiven Maharajh was just behind in 11th with a 6.20m (20' 4.25") jump.
In throws, senior Joshua Bowen secured third place in the javelin with a mark of 52.65m (172' 9") and added an eighth-place discus throw of 38.49m (126' 3").
