EMPORIA, Kan. – Augusta University freshman Kamani Pardo earned Second Team All-America honors in the high jump Saturday morning at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Pardo finished 16th nationally after clearing 2.05 meters (6-8.75) at Emporia State. He cleared both 2.00m and 2.05m on his third attempt before missing at 2.10m.

The national finish caps a breakout freshman season for Pardo, who qualified for the championship meet after clearing 2.10m at the Emory Qualifier to move into the top 15 nationally.

Sophomore Gabriel Best also represented Augusta at the national meet, competing in the 3000-meter steeplechase preliminaries. Best finished 20th with a time of 9:13.34.

Best qualified for nationals after running 8:56.66 at the Lee University Last Chance Meet, breaking his own Peach Belt Conference record and moving into the top 15 nationally.

The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships were held May 21-23 at Emporia State in Emporia, Kansas.
