Best Breaks PBC Record Again, Clinches NCAA Qualifying Mark in Steeplechase

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Augusta University sophomore Gabriel Best delivered another record-breaking performance Friday night at the Lee University Last Chance Meet, running 8:56.66 in the 3000-meter steeplechase to rebreak his own Peach Belt Conference record and move into 15th nationally in NCAA Division II.

Best's time also solidifies his spot in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with the top declared athletes in the country advancing to nationals.

The performance continues a strong postseason stretch for Best, who has consistently lowered the conference standard in the steeplechase throughout the outdoor season.

On the women's side, Gabby Jourdain posted a runner-up finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:03.68, while Madison Thomas placed fifth in 17:22.67.

Freshman Caleigh Munro recorded a time of 4:41.20 in the 1500 meters.
