HILTON HEAD, SC - Augusta University track & field athlete
Ryan Lee was named the Peach Belt Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the league's annual awards dinner on Tuesday in Hilton Head. The awards are the highest individual honors given to student-athletes by the conference and are selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives.
Lee received his undergraduate degree at Augusta University this May with a degree in cell and molecular biology and a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average. A native of Lilburn, Ga., he participated in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University Professional Scholar Program which allowed him to enroll in medical school while still an undergraduate and full-time member of the track & field team. Winner of the PBC Elite 18 Award, he graduated summa cum laude, served as volunteer head coordinator for HALO Clinics, providing free services to drug rehab patients and is president of the Medical College of Georgia Diagnostic Radiology Interest Group.
Lee is the school record holder in the javelin with a throw of 53.30 in 2024. He had a pair of podium finishes in his career with two second-place results and finished in the top 10 three times at the PBC Track & Field Championships. Named All-Southeast Region by the USTFCCCA in 2024, he was also received the team's Most Improved award in 2023.
