AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University Volleyball has announced the hiring of Dekyra Dennis as the program's new assistant coach ahead of the 2025 season.

Dennis most recently served as a graduate assistant coach for both the men's and women's volleyball teams at North Park University, where she was involved in setter development, film and statistical analysis, recruiting coordination, and day-to-day team operations. Prior to that, she spent two seasons as the assistant coach at Hutchinson Community College, assisting with training, scouting, recruiting visits, and social media coordination.

"I am excited to say Dekyra is going to be a great addition to our program," said Head Coach Sharon Quarles. "It was clear to me that Dekyra experienced much success whether it was as a player competing on the court or on the sidelines coaching at a JUCO or a Division III program—she helps to make programs better. Even at the early stages of the hiring process, her resume stood out amongst all the other candidates with the search committee. She checks all the boxes for us. It is a nice feeling to be able to call Dekyra a colleague and Augusta's newest Volleyball Assistant. GO JAGS!"

As a student-athlete, Dennis was a standout setter who won back-to-back NJCAA national championships at Coffeyville Community College before continuing her career at Jackson State University, where she was part of the team's 2021 NCAA Tournament appearance.

She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Organizational Leadership at North Park University. 

Dennis joins an Augusta squad that collected its tenth 20-win season and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the seventh time in 2024
