Augusta Baseball Adds Preston Joye As An Assistant Coach

Augusta, Ga. - Augusta University head baseball coach Chris Howell has announced the team has added Preston Joye as a new assistant coach to the staff.

Joye most recently served as an assistant coach with the Woodstock River Bandits of the Valley Collegiate Baseball League in Woodstock, Va. Prior to that, he was a graduate assistant at Division I Mercer University in Macon, Ga.

Originally from Valdosta, Ga., Joye was a middle infielder at Valdosta State and was on the Blazers who made it to the NCAA Regionals in 2022 and 2023. He also earned his bachelor's degree in finance. He then joined the Mercer staff while getting his master's degree in organizational leadership. Piror to his time at Valdosta State, Joye started his collegiate career at Georgia State University where he was a switch-hitting defensive specialist.

"We are excited to add Coach Joye to our program. He has experience coaching at the D1 level and played at D2 level. Coach Joy will bring new ideas, new energy, and commitment to success," said Howell.

The Valdosta Native brings a high level of character and strong work ethic to the program with expertise in baserunning and infield defense.
