AUGUSTA, Ga.
-Augusta State defeated Erskine 4-2 and 2-1 in a
non-conference doubleheader on Thursday in Due West, S.C.
With the win, the Lady Jaguars improved to 6-2 on the season, while
Erskine dropped to 3-4 overall.
Freshman Sara DeMuth (2-1) and sophomore Jennifer Miller (2-1) each
recorded wins for the Jags. DeMuth only gave up two runs on three
hits and had four strikeouts. Miller gave up six hits and allowed
only one run with three strikeouts.
Freshman Kristen Jones paced the Jags offensively with a 3-for-6
afternoon, including 2-for-3 in game one. Freshman Jessica Thornton
went 2-for-3 in game two with one RBI.
In game two, the Lady Jags went into the top of the seventh tied
1-1, until sophomore Alyssa Pingree went into pinch hit and walked.
Junior Leann Barber then doubled scoring Pingree to put the Jags
ahead, 2-1.
The Jaguars return to play Saturday Feb. 14, when they host Lenoir
Rhyne in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at noon at Jaguar
Field.
