DECATUR, Ala.
-Augusta State took on West Florida and Delta State in the
final day of the Charger Chillout, hosted by Alabama-Huntsville.
The Lady Jaguars dropped 7-4 to West Florida in game one and topped
Delta State 8-4 in game two.
In game one, ASU freshman Sara DeMuth suffered the loss giving up
two runs and had two strikeouts. Relieving DuMuth in the second was
junior Kimberly Kennedy (3-0) who pitched 5.2 innings and gave up
eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Junior Kayla Adams led the Jags offensively in game one going
2-for-3 and junior Leann Barber who was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a
homerun. Junior Alysha Krier also had a homer.
The Lady Jags bounced back with an 8-4 victory over Delta State in
game two on Sunday. DeMuth (3-5) received the win relieving Kennedy
in the fourth. Sophomore Jennifer Miller recorded the save.
In game two, all of ASU's eight runs were scored in the fifth
inning, with senior Angii Verbeleen pacing the Jags going 2-for-4.
Sophomore Alyssa Pingree homered, while Krier, Adams, freshman
Jessica Thornton and freshman Kristen Jones each had a hit.
The Jaguars (10-6) are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 25 when they
host Francis Marion in a Peach Belt Conference game at Jaguar
Field. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
