AUGUSTA, Ga.
-Augusta State improved to 4-0 on the season Sunday with a
non-conference, doubleheader sweep of Alderson-Broaddus at Jaguar
Field.
The Jaguars combined for 20 hits in 8-1 and 5-2 victories over the
Battlers (1-3).
Freshman Kristen Jones had four hits and drove in three runs,
including her second homer of the season. Freshman shortstop Kacee
Camp went for 4-for-6 with three runs scored and freshman third
baseman Jessica Thornton went 3-for-6 with three RBI, including a
double and a homer.
Sophomore Jennifer Miller (1-0) (pictured left) turned in a
complete-game effort in game one, striking out eight and giving up
only four hits and an earned run in 7.0 innings.
Senior Danielle Metzger (1-0) earned the win in game two, allowing
two hits with four strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Freshman Sara DeMuth
earned her first collegiate save, yielding one hit in 2.1 innings
of relief.
The Jaguars open Peach Belt Conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 10
when they host Georgia College & State at 1:00 p.m. at Jaguar
Field.
