AMERICUS, Ga.
-Augusta State split with Georgia Southwestern in a Peach
Belt Conference doubleheader on Saturday Lady 'Canes Field.
Georgia Southwester took game one 4-2, while Augusta State bounced
back in game two with a 7-5 victory.
The Lady Jaguars are now 17-14 overall and 3-3 in the conference,
while Georgia Southwestern is 8-22 on the season and 2-5 in the
league.
In game one, junior Kimberly Kennedy (5-2) received the loss in 3.2
innings of work. Kennedy gave up four runs on five hits, but booked
five strikeouts. Freshman Sarah DeMuth relieved Kennedy in fourth
and allowed only one hit with two strikeouts.
In game two, freshman Emily Corish earned the start, pitching 3.0
innings and allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts.
Sophomore Jennifer Miller (6-5) earned the win, relieving Corish in
the fourth. Miller gave up five hits and had three strikeouts.
Freshman Kacee Camp paced the Jags offensively with a 4-for-7
afternoon with two RBI and was 2-for-3 in game one. Junior Alysha
Krier went 3-for-5, while junior Kayla Adams was 2-for-3 in game
one. Senior Angii Verbeelen and freshmen Jessica Thornton and
Kristen Jones each had a pair of safeties.
ASU is back in action on Tuesday, March 17, when they host West
Georgia for a non-conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field. First
pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
