AUGUSTA, Ga.
-Augusta State topped West Georgia 5-0 and 2-1 on Thursday
afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field.
With the win, Augusta State improved to 19-14 overall and 3-5 in
the league, while West Georgia dropped to 14-10 overall.
In game one, sophomore Jennifer Miller (7-5) earned the win and
pitched all seven innings. Miller shutdown the Wolves throwing a no
hitter and had four strikeouts. Freshman Emily Corish (1-1) earned
the start in game two. Corish had two strikeouts and allowed one
run off of two hits. Junior Kimberly Kennedy (6-2) earned the win,
relieving Corish in the sixth, allowing only one hit and had a
strikeout.
Senior Angii Verbeleen paced the Lady Jags offensively in game one,
with two hits and one RBI. Juniors Leann Barber, Kayla Adams, Kayla
Hicks and freshman Kacee Camp each had two safeties on the day.
ASU is back in action on Wednesday, March 18, when they host
Valdosta State for a non-conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field.
First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
