AUGUSTA, Ga. -
Augusta State swept UNC Pembroke 9-1 and 6-1 on Saturday afternoon
in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field.
With the win, the Jaguars improved to 22-15 overall and 5-3 in the
conference, while UNC Pembroke dropped to 14-18 on the season and
5-5 in the league.
For the Jags in game one, sophomore Jennifer Miller (3-1) earned
the win, and pitched 3.2 innings. Miller allowed on run on two hits
and had a strikeout. Freshman Sarah DeMuth relieved Miller in
fourth and gave up no hits with three strikeouts.
In game two, freshman Emily Corish improved to 1-1 on the season,
receiving the win. Corish pitched 4.0 innings, and allowed only one
run on three hits and booked five strikeouts. DeMuth relieved
Corish in the fifth, giving up two hits and had five
strikeouts.
Junior Kayla Adams and freshman Kacee Camp paced the Jags
offensively with four hits on the day each. Adams was 3-for-4 in
game one, while Camp was 4-for-4 with two RBI in game one. Freshman
Jessica Thornton had three hits on the day with three runs scored.
Junior Leann Barber also had three safeties on the afternoon.
The Lady Jags are back in action on Saturday, March 28 when they
travel to Dahlonega, Ga. to compete in the Moe's Classic
hosted by North Georgia. ASU opens tourney play with Flagler at
2:00 p.m.
