BELMONT, N.C.
– Augusta State dropped to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday afternoon
in non-conference matchup at Abbey Yard in Belmont, N.C.
With the loss, the Jaguars dropped to 16-16 overall and 5-4 in the
conference, while Belmont Abbey improved to 18-16 on the
season.
For the Jags, senior Adam Mathis (0-3) received the loss, lasting
2.1 innings and only allowing four runs on four hits. Sophomore
Blake Pockrandt relieved Mathis in the third and gave up four hits
and had a strikeout. Relieving Pockrandt was freshman Chase
Johnston who allowed one run on three hits with a strikeout.
Sophomore Robbie Downing pitched the ninth and gave up only two
hits.
Belmont Abbey held Augusta State to only four hits on the
afternoon. Senior Tim Rawlings paced the Jags offensively with a
2-for-4 afternoon. Junior Evan Smith and sophomore Alex Walker each
had a safety on the day.
The Jags are back in action tomorrow when they host West Georgia
for a non-conference matchup at Jaguar Field. First pitch is set
for 3:00 p.m.
