AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State University
dropped to The Trojans 14-4 in a seven inning non-conference
matchup on Wednesday night in Anderson, S.C.
With the loss, Augusta State dropped to 20-21 overall and 8-7 in
the Peach Belt Conference, while Anderson improved to 18-27 on the
season.
Junior Carl Burrow earned the start and was tagged with the
loss. Senior Adam Mathis then came in to relieve Burrow. Relieving
Mathis was sophomore Steven Ramsey. Freshman Chase Johnston was the
next reliever, and junior Tony Baker pitched the last inning,
relieving Johnston.
Junior Shannon Wilkerson paced The Jags offensively with two
hits and two RBI on the afternoon. Senior Jorge Virguez also had
two hits and one RBI, while senior Matt Debes had a safety on the
afternoon.
ASU travels to Aiken, S.C. over the weekend to take on USC Aiken a
three-game Peach Belt Conference series. The Jags and Pacers meet
in a single game on Friday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m., and then square
off in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m.
