DECATUR, Ala. -
The Augusta State Jaguars (5-3) won two games on the second day of
the UAH Tournament, hosted by Alabama-Huntsville in Decatur,
Ala.
ASU opened the day with a 1-0 win over Arkansas Tech. Sophomore
Jessica Thornton jacked a homer in the fourth inning to give the
Jags their only run of the game.
Sophomore Sara DeMuth (2-1) earned the win, giving up only two hits
in seven innings of work and struck out nine batters. Senior Alysha Krier and Thornton each had two hits, while five different Jags had
a hit in game one.
In game two, ASU took down Delta State 7-2. Sophomore Emily Corish
earned the win and improved to 2-1 on the season. Corish struck out
five and gave up six hits in 3.2 innings of work. Senior Kimberly Kennedy relieved Corish in the fourth and gave up five hits with
two strikeouts.
Every Jag had a hit in game two, with sophomore Kristen Jones,
DeMuth and Thornton each knocking out homeruns. Thornton and junior
Kacey Sims each had two hits in game two.
The Jaguars are back in action tomorrow when they take on Kentucky
Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m., and then play Indianapolis at 3:00 p.m., in
the final day of the UAH Tournament.
