AUGUSTA, Ga. -
Augusta State swept Erskine in a non-conference doubleheader on
Tuesday afternoon at Jaguar Field.
With the win the Jags improved to 9-3 on the season, while the loss
dropped Erskine to 4-9 overall.
ASU allowed only eight hits and did not surrender a run to the
Flying Fleet in 13 innings. The Jags won the first game 1-0 and
needed only five innings to top Erskine 9-0 in the second game.
Sophomores Sara DeMuth (3-1) and Emily Corish (2-1) each recorded
wins for the Jags. DeMuth only gave up two hits and had 12
strikeouts in seven innings of work. Corish only allowed two hits
with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Freshman Laura Brown and senior Alysha Krier paced the Jags
offensively with two hits each and an RBI on the afternoon. Five
different Jags each had a hit on the day.
The Jaguars are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 24 when they open
their Peach Belt Conference schedule with Francis Marion at Jaguar
Field. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
