MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.
- Georgia College & State topped Augusta State 13-3 on
Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of the three-game Peach Belt
Conference series in Milledgeville, Ga. The Bobcats took all three
games and the series.
With the loss, Augusta State dropped to 7-15 overall and 0-6 in the
Peach Belt Conference, while the Bobcats improved to 11-7 on the
season and 4-2 in the league.
Junior righty Eric Pettepher recorded his first win of the season
(1-0). Pettepher went 6 2/3 innings striking out six and allowing
Augusta State's only three runs on seven hits.
ASU's Wilson Taylor was tagged with the loss and lasted 5.2
innings. Taylor gave up nine runs on 10 hits and had five
strikeouts.
For GCSU, Richard Pirkle went 2-for-5 with a double, adding a
two-run blast in the sixth inning. Matt Pitts hit 2-for-4,
including a double and three RBI. The first baseman is second on
the team with 29 RBI.
Junior Kenny Smith paced the Jags offensively on the afternoon,
going 2-for-4 and added a solo home run. Four different Jags each
had a hit on the day.
The Jags are back in action on Tuesday, March 16, when they host
Limestone in a non-conference game at Jaguar Field. First pitch is
slated for 3:00 p.m.
