CARROLLTON, Ga. -
Augusta State earned a split on Saturday in the second day of the
Wolves Invitational, hosted by West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga.
In game one, ASU sophomore Emily Corish was tagged with the loss
and dropped to 5-3 on the season. Corish lasted 1.2 innings and had
one strikeout. Senior Kimberly Kennedy, who relieved Corish in the
second, pitched 3.1 innings and struck out three batters.
Rollins held the Jaguars to only four hits in game one. Senior
Kayla Hicks, freshman Laura Brown junior Alyssa Pingree and
sophomore Kristen Jones had the only hits in the game.
In game two against Barry, Sara DeMuth received the win and
improved to 8-1 overall. DuMuth had eight strikeouts in seven
innings of work.
Sophomore Jessica Thornton paced ASU offensively in game two with
two hits. Jones had a hit in game two and was gave the Jags the
lead, when she scored on a squeeze bunt. Five different Jags also
had a hit in game two.
The Jaguars (17-5) take on Nova Southeastern at 11:00 a.m., Sunday
before facing Alabama-Huntsville at 3:00 p.m.
