CARROLLTON, Ga. -
Augusta State earned a split on Sunday in the third and final day
of the Wolves Invitational, hosted by West Georgia in Carrollton,
Ga.
In game one, ASU sophomore Emily Corish earned the start and lasted
4 innings. Corish gave up one run and had three strikeouts.
Sophomore Sara DuMuth, who relieved Corish in the fifth, pitched
five innings and struck out nine batters.
For the Jags in game one against Nova Southeastern, sophomore
Kristen Jones knocked out a homer and scored ASU's only run
of the game. Seniors Kayla Hicks and Beth Gerlach and sophomore
Kacee Camp each had a hit in the game.
In game two against Alabama-Huntsville, Corish received the win and
improved to 6-3 overall. Corish allowed three runs. DuMuth relieved
Corish in the fifth and earned her first save of the year in three
innings of work.
Freshman Laura Brown paced ASU offensively in game two with two
hits and three RBI and was the go-ahead run for the Jags. Jones
also had two hits in the game with two RBI, and knocked out her
second homer of the day. Junior Kasey Sims and Camp had the only
other hits in game two.
The Jaguars (18-6) are back in action on Thursday, March 11, when
they host Georgia College & State for a Peach Belt Conference
doubleheader at Jaguar Field. First pitch is slated for 2:00
p.m.
