AUGUSTA, Ga. - No.
19 North Georgia College & State defeated the Jaguars 12-1 on
Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of the three-game Peach Belt
Conference series on Senior Day at Jaguar Field. The Saints took
the series from Augusta State 2-1.
With the loss, the Jaguars dropped to 15-27 overall and 5-16 in the
conference, while North Georgia improved to 29-14 on the season and
15-9 in the league.
For the Jags, Senior Jacob Watson was tagged with the loss and
dropped to 2-3 on the season. Watson allowed six earned runs on
five hits and booked six strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work.
For the Saints, Andrew Wallace earned the win and improved to 2-0
on the year. Wallace gave up only on run on six hits and struck
three batters out.
Freshman Curtis Parker led the Jags with two hits, a homer, and the
Jags only RBI and run on the day. Juniors Alex Walker and Tristan Toorie each had two hits on the afternoon, while senior Evan Smith
and freshmen Justin Appel and Cole Payne each had a hit.
For the Saints, Chad Sage led the team with three hits, a homer and
four RBI. Anders Oster, Jordan Erisman, Brad Hall and Daniel
Petitti each had two hits on the day. Kenny Bellavance had a hit
with two RBI and Denver Stovall and Craig Brisson each had a
hit.
The contest marked the final appearance for six ASU seniors at home
– Tony Baker, Smith, Carl Burrow and Watson.
ASU is back in action on Tuesday, April 20 when they travel to
Savannah, Ga. to take on Armstrong Atlantic State in a
non-conference game. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
