DECATUR, Ala. -- The Augusta State Jaguars (5-2) won two games on the first day of the UAH Tournament, hosted by Alabama-Huntsville in Decatur, Ala.
ASU opened the day with a 3-2 win over Arkansas Tech on Friday afternoon. Junior Emily Headrick (2-1) earned the win, giving up no walks in seven innings. Sophomore Laura Brown and junior Kaitlin Harris had two hits each, including a double from Brown.
In game two, ASU took down Truman State 5-1. Junior pitcher Heather Hughes earned the win and improved to 2-1 on the season.
In the win over Truman State, Juniors Kaitlin Harris, Kacee Camp, and Hughes each had two hits. Senior Kacey Sims and junior Jessica Thorton contributed one hit each, including a triple from Thorton. Camp and Hughes each contributed one RBI, while Sims tallied two RBI's.
The Jaguars are back in action tomorrow when they take on Alabama-Huntsville at 12:30 p.m., and then play Delta State at 2:30 p.m. for day two of the tourney.
